FEAT ON PORN
Joel Kim Booster is a Chicago bred, Brooklyn based comedian and writer. He cares deeply about cats, appointment television, various feuds and more! He has been featured on Conan, Logo, Comedy Central and he desperately wants you to like him.
Born in South Korea, Joel was adopted at a young age and moved to the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Both homeschooled and evangelical, Joel has read the bible literally dozens of times, and has no idea where the state of Oregon is on a map.
He recently made his late night stand-up debut on TBS's Conan. You can see it here. Be sure to check out the comments, they're half the fun! Other television appearances include Comedy Central's @MIDNIGHT and THE MELTDOWN WITH JONAH AND KUMAIL, Bravo's THEN AND NOW, Logo's COMEDY CABARET, and TruTV's COMEDY KNOCKOUT.
His COMEDY CENTRAL PRESENTS stand-up special premieres October 20 at midnight on Comedy Central. DVR that shit.
For television, his writing credits include BILLY ON THE STREET and the Comedy Central pilot, PROBLEMATIC W/ MOSHE KASHER.
Joel is currently developing a half hour comedy with JAX Media and a currently undisclosed Cable network (formerly Fox) called BIRTHRIGHT, loosely based on his own life experiences. He is attached to write, star and co-executive produce the project. You can read more here.
As a comedian he has performed at numerous comedy clubs, bar basements and festivals all across the country and abroad. He has been featured at SXSW, Bumbershoot, Outside Lands, The Bridgetown Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, The New York Comedy Festival, and the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal where he performed as one of the New Faces of Comedy in 2016.
Paper Magazine called him one of their "10 Comedians You Need to Know," and Brooklyn Magazine has named him one of their "50 Funniest People in Brooklyn," saying, "his unbridled honesty feels less like the set-up for a punchline and more like an act of selfless catharsis the rest of us are lucky to witness in real time." Esquire Magazine named him one of their 10 Best Stand-Up Comedians To Watch in 2017, praising his "notably political" tweets, whatever that means.
Wildly, Joel is a playwright as well. His world premiere collaboration with The New Colony, Kate and Sam Are Not Breaking Up, opened in fall of 2013 in Chicago to critical acclaim and garnered a non-equity Jeff Award nomination for Best New Work. The play has been had both East and West Coast premieres, a Canadian production, and is currently available to purchase via Chicago Dramaworks.
He freelances around the internet at places like The Toast, Reductress, Decider, Elle and Fusion.
This about sums up everything Joel has ever done. If you aren't satisfied, feel free to drop him a line! But seriously what else do you fuckin' wanna know anyway?
